A: mumkin ʾitnīn kīlū baṭāṭis , wa miš ʿāyzh baṣal ḫāliṣ
English Host: Now let’s hear it with the English translation.
هالة: صـباح الخير.
Roland: Good morning.
الخــضـري: صـباح النور ، أهلاً و سـهــلاً.
Roland: Good morning. Welcome.
هالة: عــنــدك خــضار طازة ؟
Roland: Do you have fresh vegetables?
الخــضـري: أيــوة ، الخــضار عــنــدي دايــماً طازة ، إنــتي عايــزة ايه ؟
Roland: Yes, the vegetables I have are always fresh. What do you want?
هالة: عايــزة نــص كيلو كوسة ، و كيلو طــماطـِم
Roland: I want half a kilo of zucchini, and one kilo of tomatoes.
الخــضـري: مـش عايــزة بــطاطــس أو بــصـل ؟
Roland: Don’t you want potatoes or onions?
هالة: مــمـكـن إتــنـين كيلو بــطاطــس ، و مش عايــزة بــصـل خالـص.
Roland: Can I have two kilos of potatoes? And I don’t want onions at all.
POST CONVERSATION BANTER
Hala: In most cases, fruits and vegetables are sold fresh, pick of the day.
Roland: So prices will vary from one day to another.
Hala: Even from morning to noon or late afternoon prices change, so don't worry if that happens.
Roland: One thing that will surprise you, is the quantity of food that is bought.
Hala: That is very true. Its very rare that we buy just ( one apple ) , or ( 3 mangoes ), but always go for ( kilos ). The best way to avoid confusing the salesman, is asking for ( one mango ), that weights for example ( 250 gr ), this way, you get your fair price!
Roland: That’s correct.

VOCAB AND PHRASE USAGE
Roland: Let's have a closer look at the usage for some of the words and phrases from this lesson.
The first word/phrase we’ll look at is....
Hala: دايـْـماً
Roland: one of 3 words we use to say ( always ) or ( all the time ), always good to know and very important to use!
and the next one we have is...
Hala: مش عايـْـزة بـَـصـَل خالـِص
this is to express strong refusal for something, you can always use "at all" or "never", it comes at the end of the negated sentence.
Roland: So remember, the negation word comes first, followed by the noun, verb, adjective..., and finally "never" or "at all".

Lesson focus

Roland: When we're creating a list of nouns, we put them all in order with only a comma separating each one, except the last one, which is preceded by "and". Just like in English.
Hala: So we said. Half a kilo of zucchini, one kilo of tomatoes, two kilos of potatoes and vegetables for the salad. In Arabic that was “نص كيلو كوسا, كيلو طماطم, اتنين كيلو بطاطس و خضار للسلطة, “
so even as we speak, you will just go on until you reach the last noun, and you will precede it with “wa” or “and”
Roland: Exactly

Outro

Roland: That just about does it for today.
Roland: Premium members, use the review track to perfect your pronunciation.
Hala: Available in the premium section of the website,
Roland: the learning center
Hala: and through iTunes via the premium feed,
Roland: the Review Track gives you vocabulary and phrases followed by a short pause so you can repeat the words aloud.
Hala: The best way to get good fast!
Roland: Okay.
Roland: مع السلامة
Hala: مع السلامة أشوفكو قريب
