INTRODUCTION
Becky: Must-Know Egyptian Arabic Social Media Phrases Season 1, Lesson 22 - At a Birthday Party.
Becky: Hi everyone, I'm Becky.
Amr: And I'm Amr.
Becky: In this lesson, you'll learn how to post and leave comments in Egyptian Arabic about birthday greetings. Mona goes to her birthday party, posts an image of it, and leaves this comment:
Amr: مش عارفة أقولوكو إيه. بحبكوا أوي. (meš ʿārfah ʾaʾūllūkū ʾeīh. baḥebbukū ʾawī.)
Becky: Meaning - "I don't know what to say to you all. I love you all so much!" Listen to a reading of the post and the comments that follow.

POST

Amr: مش عارفة أقولوكو إيه. بحبكوا أوي. (meš ʿārfah ʾaʾūllūkū ʾeīh. baḥebbukū ʾawī.)
Becky: "I don't know what to say to you all. I love you all so much!"
Amr: (SLOW) مش عارفة أقولوكو إيه. بحبكوا أوي. (meš ʿārfah ʾaʾūllūkū ʾeīh. baḥebbukū ʾawī.) (Regular) مش عارفة أقولوكو إيه. بحبكوا أوي. (meš ʿārfah ʾaʾūllūkū ʾeīh. baḥebbukū ʾawī.)
Becky: Let's break this down. First is an expression meaning "I don't know what to say to you all."
Amr: مش عارفة أقولوكو إيه. (meš ʿārfah ʾaʾūllūkū ʾeīh.)
Becky: Use this phrase to express that you’re speechless about an event or an incident, whether positive or negative. Listen again - "I don't know what to say to you all" is...
Amr: (SLOW) مش عارفة أقولوكو إيه. (meš ʿārfah ʾaʾūllūkū ʾeīh.) (REGULAR) مش عارفة أقولوكو إيه. (meš ʿārfah ʾaʾūllūkū ʾeīh.)
Becky: Then comes the phrase - "I love you all so much!"
Amr: بحبكوا أوي. (baḥebbukū ʾawī.)
Becky: The word for "very" or "very much" in Egyptian literally means "strong." It’s placed there after an adjective or a verb. This expression is used more often to express platonic love. Listen again— "I love you all so much" is...
Amr: (SLOW) بحبكوا أوي. (baḥebbukū ʾawī.) (REGULAR) بحبكوا أوي. (baḥebbukū ʾawī.)
Becky: All together, "I don't know what to say to you all. I love you all so much!"
Amr: مش عارفة أقولوكو إيه. بحبكوا أوي. (meš ʿārfah ʾaʾūllūkū ʾeīh. baḥebbukū ʾawī.)
