Alisha: Expressions Whose Meaning Depends on Context

Alisha: This is Must-Know Egyptian Arabic Slang Words and Phrases, Season 1, Lesson 16. In this lesson, you'll learn expressions that change meaning depending on the context.
Alisha: Make what you want of these expressions. Being patient can be a good thing but being too patient could be a bad thing. Use these expressions in whichever context you like!
SLANG EXPRESSIONS
Alisha: The expressions you will be learning in this lesson are:
Sherif: فايق و رايق (fāyeʾ we rāyeʾ)
Sherif: يحرق الدم (yeḥraʾ el-dam)
Sherif: ماعندوش دم (māʿandūš dam)
Sherif: باله طويل (bel-oh ṭaweīl)
Alisha: Sherif, what's our first expression?
Sherif: فايق و رايق (fāyeʾ we rāyeʾ)
Alisha: literally meaning "awake and undisturbed." But when it's used as a slang expression, it means "laid-back."
