Welcome to Conversational Phrases!
We’ve found that the best way to learn a language is to speak it from day one! And the best way to start speaking is to learn phrases that you’ll use in real conversations.
In this lesson, you’ll learn conversational phrases to answer the question, "What kind of movies do you like?" After watching this video, you’ll be able to talk about movies and ask other people about their favorite kinds of movies.
Now, let’s take a look at some conversational phrases!
Listen to the dialogue.
بتحبي أنهي نوع من الأفلام؟
(betḥebbī ʾanhī noūʿ men el-ʾaflām?)
بحب أفلام الرعب.
(baḥebb ʾaflām el-roʿb.)
Once more with the English translation.
بتحبي أنهي نوع من الأفلام؟
(betḥebbī ʾanhī noūʿ men el-ʾaflām?)
“What kind of movies do you like?”
بحب أفلام الرعب.
(baḥebb ʾaflām el-roʿb.)
“I like horror movies.”
First of all you'll need to learn how to say “What kind of movies do you like?”
That's:
بتحبي أنهي نوع من الأفلام؟
(betḥebbī ʾanhī noūʿ men el-ʾaflām?)
Listen to it again:
بتحبي أنهي نوع من الأفلام؟, بتحبي أنهي نوع من الأفلام؟
(betḥebbī ʾanhī noūʿ men el-ʾaflām?, betḥebbī ʾanhī noūʿ men el-ʾaflām?)
This Arabic sentence translates as "You like which kind of movies?" But it means "What kind of movies do you like?"
Now, how do you answer this question?
The pattern is:
بحب (ال)أفلام [type of movie].
(baḥebb (el-)ʾaflām [type of movie].)
This Arabic sentence translates as "I like (the) movies [type of movie]." But it means "I like [type of movie]."
For example:
“I like horror movies.”
بحب أفلام الرعب., بحب أفلام الرعب.
(baḥebb ʾaflām el-roʿb., baḥebb ʾaflām el-roʿb.)
