Becky: Here's the formal way to ask 'Can you bring the bill, please?' in Egyptian Arabic.
Nora: [Normal] الحساب لو سمحت.(el-ḥisāb law samaḥt.)
Becky: First is a word meaning 'the bill'
Nora: [Normal] الحساب [Slow] الحساب (el-ḥisāb)
Becky: Next is the word meaning 'if'
Nora: [Normal] لو [Slow] لو(law)
Becky: Last is the word meaning 'allowed'
Nora: [Normal] سمحت [Slow] سمحت(samaḥt)
Becky: Listen again to the formal question meaning 'Can you bring the bill, please?'
