Okay, first of all, that's a tough one for a student, you have to know that not all native Arabic speakers could understand every single word in Standard Arabic, especially when it comes to poetry, since poets tend to use archaic words and extended figures of speech, it's a whole big branch of Arabic literature, it wasn't an easy thing to study back in school!

In my soul, lives with me a story
Its beginning is further than it seems
In it, I smell, from the hills of my home
The scent of apples and jasmines
As if its letters (the story) exploded
From a rock mountain and the water within
O story that walks me through its route
To the routes of the old times
You're nothing but an invented dream
That clouded my eyelid and didn't go away
