Learning Japanese and Arabic at the same time? Sensible?

Postby dominicashmole7834 » July 9th, 2012 6:49 am

Hi,

I've been studying with JapanesePod101 for around 3 months now because I need Japanese for my work - and got kind of hooked anyway. But my real wish is to learn Arabic. Any thoughts on whether learning both at the same time is sensible? Does it make better sense to get to a certain level (and if so, how far? Intermediate?) with Japanese before taking on Arabic, or does one get along fine trying to learn both at once? Any experience or insight on this?

Thanks,

Dominic

I took Arabic 2 and Japanese 1 at the same time in college last semester. It wasn't too bad. I passed both with an A. Japanese was pretty easy. I don't think I could utilize it much because there is not much contact with those people. San Antonio is growing with Arabs however. For me I have to emphasize Arabic because of that.
