INTRODUCTION
Becky: Must-Know Egyptian Arabic Social Media Phrases Season 1, Lesson 12 - Getting Married.
Becky: Hi everyone, I'm Becky.
Amr: And I'm Amr.
Becky: In this lesson, you'll learn how to post and leave comments in Egyptian Arabic about getting married. Mona is getting married today, posts an image of it, and leaves this comment:
Amr: فرحي النهارده و كلكو معزومين! (faraḥī el-nahārdah wa kullukū maʿzūmīn!)
Becky: Meaning - "My wedding is today, and all of you are invited!" Listen to a reading of the post and the comments that follow.

Amr: فرحي النهارده و كلكو معزومين! (faraḥī el-nahārdah wa kullukū maʿzūmīn!)
Becky: "My wedding is today, and all of you are invited!"
Amr: (SLOW) فرحي النهارده و كلكو معزومين! (faraḥī el-nahārdah wa kullukū maʿzūmīn!) (Regular) فرحي النهارده و كلكو معزومين! (faraḥī el-nahārdah wa kullukū maʿzūmīn!)
Becky: Let's break this down. First is an expression meaning "My wedding is today."
Amr: فرحي النهارده (faraḥī el-nahārdah)
Becky: The word for wedding in Egyptian literally means "happiness." Context is very important! Listen again - "My wedding is today" is...
Amr: (SLOW) فرحي النهارده (faraḥī el-nahārdah) (REGULAR) فرحي النهارده (faraḥī el-nahārdah)
Becky: Then comes the phrase - "And all of you are invited."
Amr: و كلكو معزومين! (w kullukū maʿzūmīn!)
Becky: You’re unlikely to invite everyone you know to your wedding on Facebook. People understand that this is just talk and that they aren't really expected to show up! Listen again - "And all of you are invited!" is...
Amr: (SLOW) و كلكو معزومين! (w kullukū maʿzūmīn!) (REGULAR) و كلكو معزومين! (w kullukū maʿzūmīn!)
Becky: All together, "My wedding is today, and all of you are invited!"
Amr: فرحي النهارده و كلكو معزومين! (faraḥī el-nahārdah wa kullukū maʿzūmīn!)
