Alisha: This is Must-Know Egyptian Arabic Slang Words and Phrases, Season 1, Lesson 20. In this lesson you'll learn expressions describing people with vague intentions.
Alisha: These expressions will help you describe the actions of people who may have the wrong intentions.
SLANG EXPRESSIONS
Alisha: The expressions you will be learning in this lesson are:
Sherif: يطبل (yeṭabbel)
Sherif: يزيط (yezīṭ)
Sherif: يظبط (yeẓabbaṭ)
Sherif: يحور (yeḥawwar)
Alisha: Sherif, what's our first expression?
Sherif: يطبل (yeṭabbel)
Alisha: literally meaning "to play the drums." But when it's used as a slang expression, it means "to butter someone up, adulate."
Sherif: [SLOW] يطبل [NORMAL] يطبل

Alisha: Use this slang expression when you want to say that someone is flattering someone just to get them to do something for them, especially someone higher in rank and authority.
