Alisha: Hi everyone, and welcome back to ArabicPod101.com. I'm Alisha.

Alisha: This is Must-Know Egyptian Arabic Slang Words and Phrases, Season 1, Lesson 13. In this lesson you'll learn adverbs of speed and quantity.
Alisha: It is important to be able to say how much juice you want, and how much sugar you need in your tea, because you will be offered tea everywhere you go in Egypt!
SLANG EXPRESSIONS
Alisha: The expressions you will be learning in this lesson are:
Sherif: تاته تاته (tātah tātah)
Sherif: ياما (yāmā)
Sherif: حبة (ḥabbah)
Sherif: سيكة (sīkah)
Alisha: Sherif, what's our first expression?
Sherif: تاته تاته (tātah tātah)
Alisha: literally meaning "Tata tata." Tata is the name of an automotive company. When it's used as a slang expression, it means "little by little."
Sherif: [SLOW] تاته تاته [NORMAL] تاته تاته
Alisha: Listeners, please repeat.

Alisha: Use this slang expression when you want to describe an action as being done slowly but steadily.

Alisha: literally meaning "a lot in a short time.” It originally comes from the Coptic Egyptian language. When it's used as a slang expression, it means "tons of."

Alisha: literally meaning "a grain." But when it's used as a slang expression, it means "a little."

Alisha: literally meaning "minute." But when it's used as a slang expression, it means "a tiny bit."
