Alisha: This is Must-Know Egyptian Arabic Slang Words and Phrases, Season 1, Lesson 10. In this lesson you'll learn expressions with neutral connotations.
Alisha: When you want to diffuse a situation, the best thing you can do is use neutral expressions, which helps you avoid taking sides.
SLANG EXPRESSIONS
Alisha: The expressions you will be learning in this lesson are:
Sherif: شغال (šaġġāl)
Sherif: ابن ناس (ebn nās)
Sherif: في حالك (fī ḥalak)
Sherif: حصل خير (ḥaṣal ḫīr)
Alisha: Sherif, what's our first expression?
Sherif: شغال (šaġġāl)
Alisha: literally meaning "working." But when it's used as a slang expression, it means "fine."
Sherif: [SLOW] شغال [NORMAL] شغال

Alisha: literally meaning "in your state." But when it's used as a slang expression, it means "minding your own business."

Alisha: literally meaning "something good has happened." But when it's used as a slang expression, it means "it's OK."

Alisha: Use this slang expression when you want to tell someone you're not mad at him or her anymore. It can also be used when you are trying to reconcile people after an argument or a quarrel.

Alisha: "That's OK, I'm no longer bothered."
