Hi everyone! I’m Alisha.
Welcome to Conversational Phrases!
We’ve found that the best way to learn a language is to speak it from day one! And the best way to start speaking is to learn phrases that you’ll use in real conversations.
In this lesson, you’ll learn conversational phrases to answer the question, "What's your favorite number?" After watching this video, you’ll be able to say many numbers and ask someone their favorite number.
Now, let’s take a look at some conversational phrases!
Listen to the dialogue.
إيه رقمك المفضل؟
(ʾeīh raqamak el-mofaḍḍal?)
رقمي المفضل هو سبعة.
(raqamī el-mofaḍḍal howwa sabʿah.)
Once more with the English translation.
إيه رقمك المفضل؟
(ʾeīh raqamak el-mofaḍḍal?)
“What's your favorite number?”
رقمي المفضل هو سبعة.
(raqamī el-mofaḍḍal howwa sabʿah.)
“It's seven.”
First of all you'll need to learn how to say “What's your favorite number?”
That's:
إيه رقمك المفضل؟
(ʾeīh raqamak el-mofaḍḍal?)
Listen to it again:
إيه رقمك المفضل؟, إيه رقمك المفضل؟
(ʾeīh raqamak el-mofaḍḍal?, ʾeīh raqamak el-mofaḍḍal?)
"What's your favorite number?"
Now, how do you answer this question?
The pattern is:
رقمي المفضل هو [number].
(raqamī el-mofaḍḍal howwa [number].)
This Arabic sentence literally means “My favorite number is [number].”
For example:
“It's seven.”
رقمي المفضل هو سبعة., رقمي المفضل هو سبعة.
(raqamī el-mofaḍḍal howwa sabʿah., raqamī el-mofaḍḍal howwa sabʿah.)
