Becky: Here's the informal way to say 'Hello.' in Moroccan Arabic.
Khalil: [Normal] السلام(ssalâm)
Becky: This expression has only one word meaning 'Peace'
Khalil: [Normal] السلام [Slow] السلام (ssalâm)
Becky: Listen again to the informal word meaning 'Hello.'
Khalil: [Slow] السلام [Normal] السلام
Becky: Ok, now let's take a look at the formal way to say 'Good day.'
Khalil: [Normal] السلام عليكم(ssalâmu ‘alaykum)
Becky: First is a word literally meaning 'peace'
Khalil: [Normal] السلام [Slow] السلام (ssalâmu)
Becky: Last is the word literally meaning 'upon you'

Keep in mind that this lesson is in Moroccan Arabic. That's probably why you never heard tahala before.
