Arabic Entertainment

Postby fmerinojaral_45916 » October 22nd, 2017 6:11 am

Marhaban, I'm Fernando.

I'm looking movies, tv shows, music to watch/hear in Arabic. I would like you to recommend me some tv shows or movies that would help me study Arabic. I don't care what the actors are saying when I'm watching Arabic movies, what I do care in the beginning is to immerse myself in the language of Arabic. Get familiar with Arabic sounds.

Hi Fernando,

Great question!

It kind of depends on the dialect you are interested in. For Egyptian Arabic you might want to watch Disney movies dubbed in Egyptian Arabic, like the Lion King. That way you will have an idea about the story so you will be able to predict a lot of words through context. There are also hundreds of Egyptian series and movies made every year so your options are endless. I recommend the Egyptian series "Nelly w Sherihan". You can watch it legally on Youtube by the way.

As for Modern Standard Arabic, you can try BBC Arabic which will also have many visual hints about what's happening and what the words mean.

Let me know if you're looking for another dialect. I have recommendations for many other dialects :)
