Suddenly you lose service and the call is cut off. You try calling again, to no avail. Finally, you stop someone on the street and show him the paper with the address. Luckily, the stranger knows the place, and starts to give you directions. Your Arabic is pretty good, but you lose him after the fourth or fifth “then turn right and go straight and turn left.” The man sees your confusion and smiles. “I will take you there,” he says kindly. “Oh no,” you reply, but he insists. Several minutes later the two of you arrive at your friend’s place. “Thank you very much,” you gratefully say to the man. “You’re welcome,” he replies. “Enjoy your visit.” As you start to knock on your friend’s door, your cell phone rings. “Hey, let me finish giving you directions,” your friend says when you answer. “Open your door,” you say. “I’m here!”
