Learn Arabic with ArabicPod101.com! You’ve just entered the classroom where your Arabic language class is held, and no one is there! You know you have the right time, so where is everyone? You sit down anyway, and finally another student shows up. You greet her, but instead of sitting she takes a book off the shelf. “By the way,” she says to you as she starts to leave, “today’s class is in a different place.” You frown. “What? Where is it then?” Your classmate replies, “At the university. In front of it is the restaurant.” You thank your classmate, then follow her out the door. “When did we find out about this change?” you ask, wondering how you missed it. “Don’t you remember?” your classmate says. “Our instructor told us at the end of our last class.” Ooookay. You vow that next time you’ll listen to the instructor instead of focusing on trying to fit both your book and your little chair into your bag!

Learn Arabic with ArabicPod101.com! You’re on your cell phone on a busy street in Cairo, talking to your friend and trying to find out exactly where he lives. Suddenly you lose service and the call is cut off. You try calling again, to no avail. Finally, you stop someone on the street and show him the paper with the address. Luckily, the stranger knows the place, and starts to give you directions. Your Arabic is pretty good, but you lose him after the fourth or fifth “then turn right and go straight and turn left.” The man sees your confusion and smiles. “I will take you there,” he says kindly. “Oh no,” you reply, but he insists. Several minutes later the two of you arrive at your friend’s place. “Thank you very much,” you gratefully say to the man. “You’re welcome,” he replies. “Enjoy your visit.” As you start to knock on your friend’s door, your cell phone rings. “Hey, let me finish giving you directions,” your friend says when you answer. “Open your door,” you say. “I’m here!”

Learn Arabic with ArabicPod101.com! It’s the first day of your Arabic language class, and you can’t find your book anywhere. You’re in the university cafeteria after having lunch, and you and your friend left your stuff on the table while you went to wash your hands. When you came back, the things were gone. “Darn it,” you say. “I think my book and our backpacks have been stolen!” You look around, trying to find the culprit. Your friend replies, “Calm down. Maybe we’re just looking at the wrong table.” You both look around, but don’t see your things on any table or on the floor. “Man, I really need that book,” you say. “And my favorite sweater is in my backpack.” You’re starting to get mad. Suddenly your friend points to a corner of the cafeteria. “Look on that shelf,” he says. “Isn’t that our stuff?” Sure enough, there are the missing book and backpacks. “Well, that’s strange,” you say. “How did this stuff get here?”

Learn Arabic with ArabicPod101.com! You look at your schedule in disbelief. Your Arabic language class is seventeen hours a week! Good grief. When you signed up for the class, you figured it would be a nice way to spend a few hours a week. You’d meet some new people and expand on the iPod lessons you’ve been taking. “A few hours” meaning two or three-maybe four. But seventeen? That’s a lot of time out of your week. Still…you think how much better your Arabic will be by the end of the session. You look at your schedule again and see that a six-hour exam is scheduled for the last day. What? Good luck with that! Just how difficult is this class anyway? Maybe this wasn’t a good idea. Maybe you should just skip it. Then you notice the phrase in bold at the bottom of the paper: No Refunds.
Learning Arabic with ArabicPod101.com is the most fun and effective way to learn Arabic! This Arabic Newbie lesson shows you how to form Arabic numbers from sixteen through nineteen. Trying to catch your breath, you look around and count the students-fifteen, including you. A minute later, the instructor arrives. “Welcome to French 101,” he says in Arabic. Huh? You quickly get out your schedule and discover that your Arabic class was at one o’clock, not two!
