marHaban and welcome to the first lesson of our Newbie Series, which focuses on the basics for anyone starting out in the learning process of the Arabic language. In addition to covering Modern Standard Arabic, each lesson of this Newbie Series also offers you dialogs and vocabulary in regional dialects. This is a unique chance for you to learn both Standard Arabic and Arabic as it is spoken in everyday life by natives from a specific country in the Arab world.
Today, we take a look at basic greetings as our two characters, Amina and Maryam, meet each other for the first time. We learn how to ask “How are you?” both when addressing a woman and when addressing a man. Then we move on to hear them speak and greet each other in Moroccan Arabic. You are only a few steps away from sounding like a native!
After listening, don’t forget to stop by Arabicpod101.com as the transcripts of both Standard and Regional dialogs are available. You will also find grammar, vocabulary, sample sentences, and much more to help you learn and retain Arabic. And when you stop by, leave us a post!
