Hi everyone! The first Beginner Series lesson is coming (بعد بكرة - bacad bukra) the day after tomorrow. Now is the time to get ready. So…what are your goals for learning Arabic?

avatar Bouks says:

I want to get back all of the Arabic I learned in my university studies! I can use Arabic with my husband, but of course, he speaks the Algerian dialect (which he affectionately calls “Couscous Arabic”). The “fussha” (classical Arabic) I learned in college is quite different. I hope you will do some culture classes on the dialects, it’s very interesting how different they sound.

I also never learned to type in Arabic, so I know that posting messages here will get me typing fast.

avatar Jacqueline says:

i’m looking forward to the beginner series lessons even though i’m a total newbie!

avatar Nic says:

Hello Timothy, Danya and May! You guys sounded great! You definitely have great chemistry, and I can’t wait for the lessons to start!
When will they begin?

avatar Judith says:

I’m really looking forward to the lessons. I started learning Arabic on my own, but didn’t get very far until now. Too busy. I know the alphabet already though.

avatar maxiewawa says:

Salaamu 3alaykum! I’m looking forward to lesson 1!

We learnt “salaamu 3alaykum” (not sure about spelling) at SurvivalPhrases.com, but the greeting everyone used was completely different. What was it?

avatar Timothy says:

وعليكم السلام - wa calaykum as-salaam - And upon you, Peace.

Our sister site SurvivalPhrases.com is a great place to go for Arabic travel phrases. Afterall, our very own Mounia and Chama recorded them. We’ll help you take the Arabic you learn at SurvivalPhrases.com to a whole new level by expanding your vocabulary and explaining the grammar in new conversational contexts.

We used a common, anytime greeting, that you can use with anyone: مرحبا - marHaban - which means Hello or Welcome.
